Epilog first used steel ball bearings in 1988, and many of those first laser systems are still running - hence the NeverWear name! There is no other bearing system that is as fast, smooth and reliable as our linear bearing system. Built with at least 64 steel ball bearings in each slider unit, our NeverWear bearings can operate at the highest speeds, day in and day out, without you ever having to worry about failure, replacement or the inevitable wobble that less robust bearing systems experience. Epilog's NeverWear bearings provide the accuracy, repeatability and precision that demanding laser applications require.

High corrosion-resistant bearings are applicable in corrosive environments such as water, weak acid and alkali, and strong acid and reactive gas. High corrosion-resistant bearings include steel ball bearings, Molded-Oil  bearings, and corrosion-resistant coated bearings (Nickel coating) for water environments; ceramic bearings and ESA bearings for weak acid and alkali environments; and ceramic bearings and the Aqua-Bearing for strong acid and reactive gas environments.SKF steel ball bearings in metric sizes are produced to Normal tolerances as standard. Some sizes are also available to tolerance class P6 or P5 specifications. The tolerances conform to ISO 492:2002, classes Normal, 6 and 5.

These steel ball bearings have a plastic compound called Fechnerplas 20 (F20) between their fag bearing surfaces.  F20 has a remarkable temperature range of from -204C to +316C and because it needs no lubrication, makes the Sheedy Bearing an ideal replacement for conventional bearings in ovens, freezers, pumps, air conditioning, boilers, conveyors and metal processing. Being contaminant-free, it also has widespread use in the printing and food industries. As F20 will not weld to metal, the bearing cannot seize, and because it is manufactured from high grade stainless steel which has been hardened and surface treated, the bearing has a very high corrosion resistance.

The small ball bearings in fishing reels serve the same purpose in baitcasting or spinning reels as they do in any other mechanical device - reduction of friction between moving parts. So they fall into the classification of "anti-friction bearings". Without them life would be far more difficult. Any time two objects come in contact while moving across one another friction is generated and the resulting force is resistance against the motion. Motion is slowed or stopped all together.

Most reels today, particularly high grade reels whether spinning or baitcasting, use precision, stainless steel "radial ball bearings". However, more and more solid and ceramic coated bearings are making the scene. The radial ball bearing units we're talking about consist of an inner and outer ring within which is a cage, made of plastic or steel, containing a number of precision balls. The cage functions to keep the balls separated. These fishing reel koyo bearing units are usually of deep-groove construction which accommodates both radial and axial loads common with fishing reels.

Steel ball bearings are specially designed for high humidity working conditions.Important role of the bearings in much equipment makes us think about the solutions for anticorrosion. This solution provides us with long lasting exploitation period. Even construction elements that precise, like plain industry bearings, have small inner clearance, in which the dirt can be found. That’s why it’s important to secure long working period of the bearing, because most of the delays of the equipment are related with bearing maintenance.Bearings made from stainless steel, alloy, and fluoride or with chrome coating are suitable for work in humid conditions. Base of the range is mostly [steel ball bearings] ,mostly, used in food industry, fishery, chemical processes and for cleaning elements of the semiconductors.
